Within this math class, students will utilize the CPM teaching strategies. The three main pillars are that students engage in problem-based lessons structured around a core idea, students interact in groups to foster mathematical discourse, and students gain mastery over time by spaced exposure to concepts and procedures. In addition, students will continually use the Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practice. The CPM teaching strategies focus on how students best learn and retain mathematics. So, students will be questioning, investigating, analyzing, communicating, justifying, organizing, collaborating, and problem solving throughout this year.
