MEET MRS. DAVIS
This is my eighth year at San Marin and I love it here! Go Mustangs! I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Sonoma State University in 2010 and my Single Subject Credential in 2013. I have been married for almost fifteen years and I have an eleven year old son and a six year old daughter. I love running and hiking, especially if there is a waterfall! Fun Fact: We own an escape room in downtown Petaluma, Code Zone! We also love completing other escape rooms as a family!
This year I am excited to utilize the CPM (College Preparatory Mathematics) teaching strategies. The three main pillars are that students will engage in problem-based lessons structured around a core idea, students will interact in groups to foster mathematical discourse, and students will gain mastery over time by spaced exposure to concepts and procedures. In addition, students will continually use the Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practice. The CPM teaching strategies focus on how students best learn and retain mathematics. So, students will be questioning, investigating, analyzing, communicating, justifying, organizing, collaborating, and problem solving. Math is a subject where one must participate in order to fully understand the concepts and procedures being taught. So, I do expect every student to come to class on time, prepared, and ready to fully participate in class and complete the homework. Also, in order for everyone to feel comfortable participating in class, I expect that our classroom environment be positive. We are to respect, support, and encourage each other. This means that discrimination, inappropriate language, and bullying will not be tolerated. Parents and Guardians: I feel that teachers and parents/guardians must work together towards the best interest of the student. We are partners in this goal. So, if there is ever an issue, please feel free to email or call me, so we can work as a team towards a common solution. Also, if your student needs a little extra help, please have him or her come see me. In addition, I have provided links to the CPM parent resources available to you. I am very excited to be given the opportunity to teach your student! |
